Milk Oolong
Taste: Buttery, Creamy, Orchid
Serving: Each bag makes around 50 to 60 cups of tea, depending on your taste preference.
Among Taiwan’s tea cultivars, few are as beloved as Jin Xuan 金萱, the variety behind what is often called Milk Oolong. Introduced in the late twentieth century, Jin Xuan was selectively bred to express a naturally creamy character, associated in part with lactones—aromatic compounds that can create buttery, milky notes in the cup. Yet this character is never guaranteed. It emerges most clearly when the right cultivar, cool high mountain terroir, and careful craftsmanship come together. Grown in Nantou County, where drifting mist and cooler temperatures slow leaf growth, our Milk Oolong develops a silky texture, delicate orchid aroma, and lingering natural sweetness. Its creaminess is not added or flavored; it is an expression already present within the leaf, patiently revealed through careful growing and making.

Oolong Tea
Partially oxidized between green and black tea, oolong develops unique polymerized polyphenols that have been studied for their interaction with enzymes involved in dietary fat digestion. For generations, families across East Asia have reached for oolong alongside richer meals. Modern research now offers a possible explanation for that everyday wisdom, with studies linking oolong polyphenols to post-meal fat digestion and lipid metabolism.
Our Sourcing
Nantou County, Taiwan
Nantou is one of Taiwan’s most established regions for Jin Xuan, a tea cultivar developed in Taiwan and officially known as TTES No. 12. The region’s mountain slopes, frequent mist, and cooler nights allow the leaves to mature gradually, helping preserve the cultivar’s naturally soft floral aroma and creamy, rounded texture. We chose Jin Xuan from Nantou because it expresses what makes this cultivar distinctive: a smooth body, gentle sweetness, and a subtle milk-like richness that comes naturally from the tea itself, never from added flavoring.
